There seems to have been no discussion on the helicopter segment of Project Air 9000 Phase 7 HATS (Helicopter Aircrew Training System).

In January a consortium of Boeing and Thales was tagged as being preferred supplier for this phase of Air 9000. Their chosen airframe is the Eurocopter (Airbus Helicopters) EC135. The current budget papers seem to indicate they have kept this one on the burner.

Does anyone have any more information on these aircraft? I know there will be a new joint helicopter school for Army and Navy aircrew to be based at Nowra but will the aircraft be part of the "A" series with the Army, the "N" series or will they wear civilian colours? I would assume they will wear Army colours.

Will the aircraft also be used as light utility helicopters for the ADF?

The 'A' and the 'N' series are now the same, Navy aircraft are now numbered in the original RAAF series 3 system.
Assimilation of the Navy into ADF aviation is almost complete, "Resistance Is Futile"
