Hello again,

After another 24 hour site glitch with our ISP this week we're back again.

Thanks Darren for sorting that out!

The first update for this month is my continuing work on the:

A22 Fairey Battle (RAF "L" Serials)

Over the past week I've updated the RAF Histories for the following airframes:

L4985, L4998, L4999, L5005, L5006, L5012, L5013, L5015, L5017, L5018, L5022, L5023, L5028, L5029, L5031, L5038, L5044, L5049, L5050, L5052, L5061, L5069, L5070, L5082, L5087, L5094, L5096, L5105, L5018, L5117, L5122, L5124, L5128, L5129, L5134, L5142, L5143, L5151, L5152, L5156, L5158, L5163, L5170, L5173, L5202, L5212, L5215, L5217, L5221, L5223, L5240, L5244, L5599, L5600, L5602, L5603, L5604, L5609, L5610, L5617, L5644, L5650, L5651, L5652, L5653, L5654, L5655, L5656, L5657, L5658, L5659, L5660.

Even after knocking off RAF histories for another 72 aircraft, it still seems like I have heaps to go!

As ever, If you can contribute any photos that we are missing of RAAF Battles, then we'd love to hear from you!

Cheers

Brendan

Let's see how close I can get!

Cheers

Hi All,

Paul McGuiness has done an outstanding job of completely updating both our:

Airspeed Oxford

(IMG:http://www.adf-gallery.com.au/gallery/albums/Oxford-AT470/P014552.jpg)

and

Avro 643 Cadet Pages.

(IMG:http://www.adf-gallery.com.au/gallery/albums/Cadet/P990398.jpg)

This has been a mammoth effort over the last few months with information updated for every airframe - some practically from scratch!

If any one can help us with more information or photos to add, then we'd love to hear from you at question@adf-serials.com.au .

Cheers

We've also had a request for more information on the RAAF's short lived use of Jet Provost T2 A99-001 (G-AOHD) from David Watkins who writes:

QUOTE

Hello Rod,

You may recall that you most kindly helped with No.5 OTU when I was putting my history of the DH Vampire together? Your support was most welcome.

Following the interest shown in  the books on the DH Vampire / Venom and RAF aerobatic teams, the publisher has asked me to compile the long-overdue, comprehensive history of the BAC Jet Provost / Strikemaster. Work has started on the manuscript and, despite the fact that Hunting / BAC / Airwork rendered much of their historic material a few years ago,  I have received a lot of enthusiastic support from a lot of overseas air forces and former aircrew, including two project pilots from Hunting and BAC.

At the moment I am putting together the chapter regarding the RAAF’s trials of the Jet Provost in 1959:

A six-month’s' trial is to be given by the R.A.A.F. to a Hunting Jet Provost at No. 1 Basic Flying Training School, Point Cook, Victoria. The aircraft is being sent to Australia by sea and will be assembled by the de Havilland Aircraft Pty. Ltd. at Bankstown near Sydney. An instructor from No. 1 F.T.S. will dien convert to it at Bankstown before flying the Jet Provost to Point Cook, where two selected trainee pilots are to be taught to fly in it. This will be the first time in R.A.A.F. history that student pilots have started their primary training on a pure jet aircraft; at present they begin on Winjeels. During the trial period at Point Cook the other members of No. 35 Pilot Training Course (from which the two Provost trainees are being selected) will fly Winjeels, and comparative progress will be closely watched. After completing 116 hr flying the members of No. 35 Course go from Point Cook to Pearce, W.A., for conversion to Vampires.

I am having a lot of problems completing this particular chapter and  I would be most grateful if I could prevail upon your patience and generosity once again  to ask if you have any information regarding the names of the two student pilots involved in this trial? I am also interested to learn of the dates of No.35 Pilot Training Course at Point Cook and if any images of the Jet Provost have survived?

Thank you in advance for any help that you can provide and I look forward to your response with the greatest of interest.

My regards,

David Watkins

I have made some quick updates to our Jet Provost Page today including some new photos.

If you have any leads for us, we'd love to hear from you at question@adf-serials.com.au.

Cheers

Brendan
