Well spotted Martin.

They have a unique spelling in their headline too!

"Iriquois helicopter for Seymour

A Huey is on its way to the Vietnam Veterans Commemorative Walk."

Cheers

Good to see so many machines preserved, even if only as shells. I don't understand why we can't have a UH-1H flying as a part of a historic flight.

A small error on the Iroquois page relating to A2-1025.

The narrative states that it was fitted with twin M-60C machine Guns (mini guns) with a rate of fire of 6000rpm.

The M-60C was not a mini gun and would have had a rate of fire the same as the standard M-60 of 400rpm.

QAM's A2-310 was one of six UH-1H that participated in Operation "Bel Isi" with the peace-keeping force in Bougainville from April 1998 until August 2001. The other aircraft, all of which were painted orange overall, were A2-295, 279, 490, 507 and 649. Thanks to ADF Serials we know that 310 returned home on HMAS Kanimbla on 3 Aug 2001. Does anyone know how these aircraft were positioned to Bougainville at the start of the operation? 310 did not fly between 9 and 23 April 98 so I presume that represents a sea voyage but on what ship?

During "Bel Isi" 310 returned to Australia on 4 occasions for servicing. One trip was by C-130 and presumably so were the others.

Any further info will be greatly appreciated.

Regards
Ron

485 has finally arrived in Merredin, truck pulled in at 5.45pm tonight and ,weather permitting, will be unloaded at 7.30am tomorrow. It has been a long drawn out exercise getting her here as we have had several trucking companies agree to picking her up only to pull out at the last minute.

We are now working towards the funding for a new shed to house her and other aircraft we are negotiating on.
Our M60 door gun is only a few weeks away as well which only leaves us to fabricate a reasonable copy of the mount.
Once she is undercover, we will equip her with crew and weapons, if anyone knows were we can get hold of flight suits and helmets, please let me know.

photo's to follow.

Australia has delivered UH-1H helicopter parts to the Lebanese Army to help combat threats imposed by the neighbouring crisis in Syria

“The assistance received from Syria, the USA, and other friendly countries to Lebanon has played a basic role in bridging the gap between needs and available means.”
